2.14.010 Authority to commission personnel to issue citations.
A. The chief of police is authorized to commission and empower qualified personnel who are under the direct control and direction of the city police department to issue citations for violations and misdemeanors that occur in their presence within the city.
1. The commission and empowerment of each individual shall be in writing and filed with the individual’s personnel records and shall be issued only by the chief of police. The chief of police may designate the specific authority of any one individual by specifying the offenses for which citations may be issued.
2. The chief of police may revoke said commission at any time and for any reason.
B. The city shall file a complaint with the municipal court in those instances in which a violation of the law has occurred. (Ord. 4566, 1994).
