A. It is unlawful for any child under the age of 18 years to be in or remain in or upon any street, alley park or other public place between the hours specified in this section, unless such child is accompanied by a parent, guardian or other proper companion of the age of 21 years, or more, specially chosen by the parent or guardian to escort the child on the occasion in question, or by a person over 20, the years of age caving the care and custody of such child, or unless such child is then engaged in an entertainment or high school, or coming to or from an employment or night school, or is in an organized group with the knowledge of a parent, which makes it necessary to be in or upon such street, alley park or other public place, during the night time between such specified hours.

B. For the purpose of this section, the applicable hours shall be:

1. As to children under 14 years who have not begun high school, between 9:30 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. of the following morning;

2. As to children 14 years of age to 19 years who have begun high school, the hours shall be between 10:15 p.m., Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and 5:00 a.m. of the following morning, and between 12:00 midnight on Friday or Saturday, or any day prior to a legal holiday when no school is scheduled for said legal holiday, and 5:00 a.m. of the following morning;

C. Any child under the age of 18 years who is employed shall obtain from his employer and the employer shall issue to such child employed, a card showing such employment. A child failing to carry and produce such card shall not be deemed to be within the protection of the preceding provision. (Ord. 3623 §1, 1972).
